Family Camp is the perfect place for families to learn new skills and try new things.

A great camp should have something for everyone. Spend quality time with your family in a peaceful outdoor setting, with fun activities for all ages. It will be a family retreat filled with memories that will last a lifetime!

At YMCA Camp Cullen, we offer a wide variety of activities for every member of the family. Experience the fun of family camping with the following activity options:

Alpine Tower
Climbing Tower

The ultimate climbing experience for both youth and adults, with beginner and experienced elements that allow for a great team building activity with your family.

Zip Line
Zip Line

You’re greeted by our certified staff member at the top who will get you clipped into our equipment and then you can race one of your kids or family members down a quarter mile of wire.

Archery Kid with Arrow

Archery allows campers to improve their skills with a bow and arrow. Whether it be with a standard recurve* or a compound bow, it’s a great bonding activity with family.

Teaching safety is an important element in any camp; and the riflery range is no exception. This is a great activity and learning opportunity for parents and kids alike!

Allen Center

Our creative arts staff provide an environment of creativity, imagination and fun. Our craft center is a place where budding artists can try a wide variety of creative pursuits.

This is a favorite for our families and kids love to race down the slide over and over again! It’s one of those activities you’ll hear about on the drive home.


Families can get hands on with rocks, minerals and fossils in our new geology room before heading out to explore millions of years of history in the making at our unique rock quarry.

Scavenger Hunts

Set off on an adventure with the family and see who can find the most items on a fun scavenger hunt. It’s a great way to get to know the property!


Get out your map and compass and make your way to various checkpoints across Camp! This is a great activity for all ages and a way to work together as a team.


Camp is a great place for geocaching, or hunting for and finding a hidden object by way of GPS coordinates. Make it a game to see which member of the family finds the object first!

Camp Cullen - Art, Science, Outdoor - Fishing

All of our families will get the chance to go fishing on the shores of Lake Livingston. It’s a great opportunity for families to have fun and connect!

Nature Trails

Families will enjoy seeing some of the 500 acres of woods and numerous woodland creatures along our hiking trails.

Horseback riding (additional fee)

Weekend guests ages 4 and up can enjoy hour-long trail rides guided by our capable staff or time spent riding freely in the arena. Ages 4-6 will be led by a staff member whether on the trail or in the arena while ages 7 and up can steer their own horse. Long pants, closed toe shoes and a camp-provided riding helmet are required.

Evening Activities

One of our favorite traditions at camp is reflection and discussion at the end of a fun-filled day. Camp fires are a great time for families to get together, swap stories and enjoy smores.

Canoeing is a classic at summer camp. Canoe races, obstacle courses or a trip out of the cove are awesome experiences that our families will never forget.

Our pool is a great way to cool off and all kids are swim tested every day to make sure they have the most fun while being as safe as possible.

You can’t miss our 100-foot long “Wet Willie” water slide with its vibrant red and yellow canvas. That is 100 feet of complete fun!
